Once a part of French Indochina, Vietnam and Cambodia showcase centuries of history and a fascinating blend of European and Asian cultures. Explore Saigon, Vietnam, with visits to Notre Dame Cathedral, the General Post Office and former U.S. Embassy, and in Siem Reap, Cambodia, discover the ruins of the Angkor temples. A special highlight of this journey is a Mekong River cruise aboard the exclusively chartered Mekong Navigator. Visit rural towns and villages, as well as Phnom Penh, the Cambodian capital. Visit the Royal Palace, and take a look at Cambodia’s troubled past. Take sampan rides to see floating communities and fish farms. During included excursions, expert local guides will offer context and colorful narratives. While cruising, enjoy luxurious river-view suites and all meals onboard ship plus wine with dinner.

Depart for Saigon, Vietnam.

Day 2 | Sep. 20
Cross the international date line.

Day 3 | Sep. 21. Saigon
Upon arrival, transfer to the InterContinental Asiana Hotel. Join a Welcome Reception and Dinner.

Day 4 | Sep. 22. Saigon
Excursion: Highlights of Saigon. See the Notre Dame Cathedral, City Hall and other key landmarks. Visit the War Remnants Museum and Ben Thanh Market.
Excursion: Cu Chi Tunnels. Explore the amazing Cu Chi Tunnels, a vast complex of underground rooms.

Day 5 | Sep. 23. Saigon.
Excursion: A City at War and Chinese Saigon. Visit the War Remnants Museum and the Reunification Palace. In the Cholon district, see a prominent temple in the heart of Saigon’s Chinese community.

Day 6 | Sep. 24. My Tho/Cai Be
Travel to My Tho and embark the Mekong Navigator.
Excursion: Cai Be. Admire the town’s Gothic Cathedral, and visit Kiet House, once owned by one of the area’s most powerful families. Visit a local business to see the production of rice paper, popcorn, rice wine and candy.

Day 7 | Sep. 25. Sa Dec
Excursion: Sa Dec. Visit a brick factory and rice-processing facility to learn about these important local occupations. Continue to the house of Hyun Thuy Le, who inspired French writer Marguerite Duras’ novel “L’ Amant.”

Day 8 | Sep. 26. Chau Doc
Excursion: Chau Doc. See the floating markets in Chau Doc’s harbor and visit a fish farm, then explore the town’s outdoor market.

Day 9 | Sep. 27. Phnom Penh
Today, awaken in Cambodia.
Excursion: The Killing Fields and Tuol Sleng Museum. Learn of Cambodia’s troubled past with a visit to the Killing Fields and Genocide Museum as well as the Choueng Ek Memorial.
Excursion: Phnom Penh. Board a cyclo for a tour of Phnom Penh, including the Royal Palace, Silver Pagoda, and National Museum.

Day 10 | Sep. 28. Kampong Chnang
Excursion: Kampong Chnang. Take a sampan ride on the Tonle Sap River to Kampong Chnang. See fishing villages, fish farms and markets for a glimpse of local life along the Mekong.

Day 11 | Sep. 29. Chong Koh/Angkor Ban
Excursion: Chong Koh. Visit this village, known for its silk weaving.
Excursion: Angkor Ban. Experience this friendly farming town with visits to local homes, the school and the Buddhist monastery.

Day 12 | Sep. 30. Kampong Cham
Excursion: Kampong Cham. Explore the town, then visit the Monastery of Phnom Pros and Phnom Sre.
Excursion: Wat Hanchey. Marvel at this hilltop pagoda, which was once an important religious center.

Day 13 | Oct. 1. Siem Reap/Angkor Wat
Disembark the ship and transfer to the Victoria Angkor Resort and Spa.
Excursion: Angkor Wat. Visit the iconic Angkor Wat temple complex.

Day 14 | Oct. 2. Angkor Thom
Excursion: Angkor Thom. Explore Angkor Thom, ancient center of the Khmer civilization.

Day 15 | Oct. 3. Ta Prohm
Excursion: Ta Prohm. Infiltrated by jungle, the temples at Ta Prohm have been left in their natural state. Explore the complex with an expert guide.

Day 16 | Oct. 4.
Transfer to the Siem Reap airport for the return to your gateway city.
