Depart for Kilimanjaro, Tanzania.
DAY 2 | Sept. 9. Arusha
Upon arrival, transfer to Arusha and The Arusha Hotel.
DAY 3 |Sept. 10. Tarangire
This morning, travel to Tarangire National Park and check in to the Tarangire Sopa Lodge. In the evening evening, join your fellow travelers for a welcome reception.
DAY 4 | Sept. 11. Tarangire
Excursion: Tarangire. Explore Tarangire, where it is possible to see herds with as many as 300 elephants. The park is also known for its exceptional bird watching opportunities. Among the 550 resident species is the martial eagle, Africa’s largest, with a wingspan of 6-8.5 feet (1.8-2.5 meters).
DAY 5 | Sept. 12. Tarangire / Lake Manyara
Excursion: The Great Rift Valley and Lake Manyara. Drive along the rim, a fissure in the earth’s surface that extends from Southwest Asia through East Africa to Mozambique. Continue to Lake Manyara National Park. Later, check in to the Sanctuary Escarpment Luxury Lodge.
DAY 6 | Sept. 13. Ngorongoro
Excursion: Gibb’s Farm. Visit Gibb’s Farm, established as a coffee farm in the 1920s. Its lush grounds, covering more than 70 acres. Organic Arabica coffee is grown and processed here using traditional methods.
Excursion: Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Discover the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, a vast expanse that stretches for 3,205 square miles (8,300 square kilometers) across savannahs, highland plains and forests. It is renowned for the array of wildlife that resides within its boundaries.
DAY 7 | Sept. 14. Ngorongoro
Excursion: The Garden of Eden. Journey into Ngorongoro Crater, a thrilling natural amphitheater formed from a collapsed volcano. As the world’s largest unbroken caldera, it is home to about 30,000 animals, including the endangered black rhinoceros. Enjoy a picnic lunch on the crater floor.
Excursion: Meet the Masai. Visit a Masai village, meet some of the residents and learn about their culture.
DAY 8 | Sept. 15. Oldupai Gorge / Serengeti National Park
Depart for Serengeti National Park and check in to the Serengeti Sopa Lodge.
Excursion: Cradle of Mankind. The Oldupai Gorge is in the Great Rift Valley. In the 1950s, a hominid skeleton discovered by Louis and Mary Leakey made it an important prehistoric site.
DAY 9 | Sept. 16. Serengeti National Park
Excursion: Endless Plains. See whether you can spy the Big Five — Cape buffalo, lion, African elephant, leopard and rhinoceros – on morning and afternoon game drives.
DAY 10 | Sept. 17. Serengeti National Park
Continue your discovery during morning and afternoon game drives. Later, check in to the Sanctuary Serengeti Migration Camp, a deluxe mobile camp that moves with the great wildebeest migration.
DAY 11 | Sept. 18. Serengeti National Park
Excursion: Northern Serengeti. Spend your morning and afternoon on game drives. In the evening, join your fellow travelers for a Farewell Reception.
DAY 12 | Sept. 19. Serengeti National Park / Arusha
Enjoy a final game drive this morning. After breakfast, fly to Arusha, where day rooms will be provided. In the evening, transfer to the airport for your return flights to your North American Gateway city.
DAY 13 | Sept. 20.
Arrive in your gateway city.
