In the afternoon, join your fellow travelers for a welcome briefing, featuring an introduction of the Paris’ famous subway system, the Metro, and an orientation walk in Bercy Village. Tonight, attend a Welcome Reception and Dinner.
DAY 3 | Sept. 3. Paris
Educational Focus: The History of Paris.
Excursion: Le Marais. Explore the heart of artistic and cultural life in Paris in this intimate neighborhood. Marais means “marsh,” but this neighborhood is much more elegant than its name.
Independent Exploration: The afternoon is yours to explore Le Marais and beyond. Visit boutiques and art galleries. Step into the Musée Picasso or stroll the regal Place des Vosges, Paris’ first square.
Local Flavor: Enjoy a dinner of French cuisine at a Paris restaurant.
DAY 4 | Sept. 4. Paris
Independent Exploration: The morning is at leisure.
Excursion: Paris by Boat. Cruise the Seine and the Canal Saint-Martin, the waterway created by Napoleon in the early 1800s to provide clean water for Paris. Today, the canal, which is lined with shops, galleries and cafés, is one of the city’s top attractions.
DAY 5 | Sept. 5. Versailles
Excursion: Versailles. Visit France’s grandest palace. See the Hall of Mirrors, where the Treaty of Versailles was signed. Explore at your own pace with an included headset audio guide.
DAY 6 | Sept. 6. Dijon
Excursion: Bourgogne. Travel to Dijon on a high-speed TGV train. Discover the historic sites and culture of this charming Burgundian town. Admire stately stone mansions, a trio of churches, and half-timbered homes from the 15th and 16th centuries.
Local Flavor: Take a break for lunch at a restaurant in Dijon.
Independent Exploration: Enjoy some time at leisure before returning to Paris.
DAY 7 | Sept. 7. Paris
Educational Focus: The Treasures of the Musée D’Orsay.
Independent Exploration: The rest of the day is at leisure. Having learned about the D’Orsay this morning, you can take advantage of a free day to visit the D’Orsay to admire the works of Monet, Renoir, Van Gogh and others.

Educational Focus: The Treasures of the Louvre.
Independent Exploration: Spend the rest of the day at leisure. With your newfound knowledge of the Louvre in hand, you may wish to stroll through the halls of this venerated museum.
DAY 9 | Sept. 9. Paris
Educational Focus: Contemporary France.
Excursion: Paris and World War II. Stroll the neighborhood of Saint- Germain-des-Près and learn about Paris during the Occupation.
Independent Exploration: Spend the rest of the day at leisure.
DAY 10 | Sept. 10. Rouen
Excursion: Rouen. Take the regional express train to Rouen, capital of Normandy. See the 14th-century Gros Horloge and Notre-Dame de Rouen, a cathedral made famous by Monet. Hear the haunting story of Joan of Arc.
DAY 11 | Sept. 11. Paris
Independent Exploration: Spend the morning at leisure.
Excursion: The French Revolution. Learn about the French Revolution and the Latin Quarter. See the hall where the radical Cordeliers’ club held their debates, visit the oldest café in Paris and hear about the guillotine and the death of Marat. In the evening, attend a farewell reception
and dinner.

Transfer to the airport for the return
flights to your gateway city.
