Day 5 | Oct. 30. Mto wa Mbu / Ngorongoro Conservation Area

Day 6 | Oct. 31. Ngorongoro Crater
Your expedition continues to Ngorongoro Crater: the world’s largest unbroken caldera and one of the most legendary safari destinations in Africa. The crater is a biosphere reserve often called a “Garden of Eden” for its wide range and ever-present abundance of wildlife attracted by the year-round water supply on the crater floor. A full day game drive here provides ample time to enjoy the excellent viewing opportunities.
Overnight: The Country Lodge

Days 7-8 | Nov. 1, 2. Oldupai Gorge / Serengeti National Park – Seronera Valley
Navigate around the crater’s rim descending to Oldupai Gorge, one of the most important prehistoric archaeological sites on Earth. It was here in the 1950s that Louis and Mary Leakey first uncovered the fossilized teeth and skull of one of our earliest ancestors. After an interpretive presentation, we continue to the Serengeti, Tanzania’s premier game park, experiencing its vastness and beauty for the first time. Home to the greatest concentration of large mammals on Earth, migratory herds of wildebeest, zebra, and gazelle roam widely in search of green grass and water. Morning and afternoon drives each day bring us to optimal viewing points to see what nature reveals.
Overnight: Serengeti Serena Safari Lodge
While in Serengeti National Park, an optional hot air balloon safari is available to view wildlife as you float over the Serengeti. Afterward, enjoy a champagne breakfast and a game drive before rejoining the group. (Note: This excursion must be purchased in advance to guarantee availability and is non-refundable.)

Days 9-10 | Nov. 3, 4. Western Serengeti / Grumeti / Lake Victoria Fishing Village
Traveling west beyond the Seronera Valley, enter the western corridor of the Serengeti and the Grumeti River region. Morning and afternoon game drives each day afford plenty of opportunity to observe, explore, and learn about these reserves, their wild diversity of bird and mammal species, and the path of the Great Migration that passes here. On the banks of Lake Victoria is a fishing village where you are introduced to the local way of life, visit a school, and participate in a guided walk. A memorable bush dinner on our last night on safari is a chance to bid a fond farewell to the sights, sounds, and magic of the Serengeti.
