Peter Narins
Department of Integrative Biology and Physiology
Peter Narins is a tropical biologist who teaches courses on animal communication, neurobiology, sensory physiology and auditory science in the UCLA Department of Integrative Biology and Physiology. To date, he has carried out 56 overseas biological expeditions on all seven continents plus Madagascar, and in the last four years, has delivered 70 invited research presentations in 25 different countries. He has made over a dozen previous trips to Africa where he has lectured and done field research in South Africa, Namibia, Madagascar, Kenya, Tanzania (including Zanzibar), Morocco, Cameroon, Botswana, Egypt, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Mozambique, and Swaziland. He has been a Fulbright, Humboldt and Guggenheim Fellow, and he has won both UCLA’s Distinguished Faculty Teaching Award and Gold Shield Faculty Prize.
