boat American Countess

Step into the past and see compelling Civil War sites and battlefields aboard the American Countess, American Queen Steamboat Company’s newest ship. Embark on your river cruise in Memphis, a city teeming with Americana, and cruise to New Madrid. Experience the oldest city west of the Mississippi, known for the fascinating Civil War Battle of Island Number Ten. Set sail for Paducah, whose legacy as a Union supply hub lives on in its historic buildings and museums. Spend a day exploring Savannah, the “Hostess City of the South,” where antebellum mansions and open green spaces mingle. Just outside town, visit the unforgettable Shiloh National Military Park, the site of the Civil War’s largest engagement in the Mississippi River Valley. Before you bid farewell to the American Countess in Chattanooga, stop in Decatur. Originally a river crossing for settlers west of the Appalachians, Decatur became the site of many skirmishes during the Civil War and its history is seen today in its pre-war architecture like the Old State Bank and the Burleson-Hinds-McEntire House.
